# Charlie Brown Tree

A tree stump at Magic Pines on Cannon Lake, carved into Peanuts characters under Snoopy’s doghouse by Adam Gale of Rust n’ Grain.

The Charlie Brown Tree, which we also call the Peanuts Tree, is a tall tree stump at Magic Pines, our place on Cannon Lake, carved with Peanuts characters climbing toward Snoopy’s red doghouse on top. Adam Gale of [Rust n’ Grain](https://rustngraincom.wordpress.com/) carved it. I posted [the carving in progress](https://www.thingelstad.com/2020/05/24/little-snippet-of.html), Charlie Brown holding Snoopy emerging from the wood, on 2020-05-24, and the tree in the snow in [Weekly Thing 163](https://weekly.thingelstad.com/archive/163/) that October. The [project page](https://www.thingelstad.com/magic-pines/charlie-brown-tree/) has videos.

Logs left over from the tree became Escher-inspired [carved log tables](https://www.thingelstad.com/2021/06/12/i-love-our.html) for the fire area in 2021, another Rust n’ Grain project. In May 2025 I made the tree the site of [my first location-based POAP](https://www.thingelstad.com/2025/05/25/i-created-my-very-first.html), which visitors could mint by standing beside it.
